Today I am proud to be a Filipino. Not everyday that I feel this way, with all the current turmoils in my country's political system, afflictions brought by typhoons and calamities, and rice shortages, unemployment and yes, the weakening of the dollar. It is so ironic that someone like me will feel sad when the peso, the Philippine currency become stronger against the dollar. Me and so with the rest of the Filipino overseas workers around the world, the close to the 9 million Filipino's wanted the dollar to be stronger so exchange rate will be better, and higher. Why? No matter how many times the dollar will go down or weakens, the fuel, gas, and prime commodities will always be higher. A weaker dollar means a weaker money sent to the families in the Philippines.

But, oh, yes, today, me and my wife and the whole Filipino people rejoice because someone, a simple, uneducated, but with a strong but kind heart and pierce but killing punch man of my age, won a boxing game.

Not just because he is a Filipino like me,

not just because we are of the same age, almost.

Not just because we are both from General Santos City, Philippines, and

not just because we me and my friends were smiling when we saw him jogging, browned long hair with a tattered and worn out socks and Robertson shoes almost 15 years ago,

but because I know deep in his heart, he is fighting to keep the Filipino's hope alive.
He said he is fighting to win to donate the proceeds to his countrymen that was hit by typhoon Frank.

Today, he proved himself to be the LIVING LEGEND.
Today, and almost the same like the days he won, and martyred in the boxing ring all the Mexican Legend, he is our hero and will be forever etched in our minds and in our hearts.

He is so simple, so common, so Pinoy, and he bring honor to us all.
Let us all cheer up!

Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao
, born December 17, 1978 in Kibawe, Bukidnon, and was raised in General Santos City, Mindanao, Philippines, simply known as Manny Pacquiao or Pac-Man, is a Filipino professional boxer.

He is the WBC
Lightweight Champion, the former world champion at IBF Super Bantamweight, and WBC Flyweight divisions.

Pacquiao
took over as the Ring Magazine pound for pound #1 ranked boxer in the world on June 9, 2008, after Floyd Mayweather, Jr. announced his retirement from boxing.

On June 28, 2008, at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Pacquiao defeated David Diaz by ninth round knockout to become the WBC lightweight champion. With the victory, Pacquiao became the only Asian boxer to win four major titles in four weight classes. He recently won his fourth world title and first Lightweight title after knocking out David Díaz in their title match at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on June 28, 2008. With just 26 seconds remaining in the ninth round, Pacquiao landed a left hook to Diaz's chin, sending the bloodied Diaz falling to the canvas. See the attached photos courtesy from Fox Sports.

Filipino ring idol and national treasure Manny Pacquiao cemented his place among the legends of boxing with a spectacular ninth round knockout over Mexican-American David Diaz before Pacquiao's wildly cheering countrymen at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

Pacquiao, who has been described by boxing writers as the "Mexecutioner" because of his demolition of Mexican legends Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik "El Terrible Morales and Juan Manuel Marquez and battered pretenders like undefeated Jorge Solis, Hector Velasquez, Emmanuel Lucero and Gabriel Mira, lived up to his billing by an execution-style annihilation of the game but utterly outclassed Diaz.

Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen of Boston Celtics, his favorite NBA team, and whom he predicted to win the NBA championship, watched the game, and went into Pacquiao's crowded dressing room after the fight to congratulate the No.1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world who put on a display that overwhelmingly justified his Ring Magazine choice. Even if Floyd Mayweather Jr. hadn't retired, editor-in-chief Nigel Collins would have had a hard time not recognizing Pacquiao as No.1 based on his near flawless performance against Diaz.
